A building can be open around the clock. A child cannot be in care around the clock. Arizona law defines child care as care for "periods of less than twenty-four hours per day" (A.R.S. § 36-881). A real 24-hour center runs in shifts, the way a hospital does: a child is dropped off in the evening, sleeps in a cot or crib with an awake adult in the room, and is picked up in the morning.
Many listings online say "open 24 hours" because somebody ticked a box, and most of those centers close by early evening.
Arizona licenses evening and nighttime care as its own service: care between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., with staff who stay awake (A.A.C. R9-5-204 and R9-5-511). When a provider's public record on AZ Care Check lists Evening/Nighttime Care, we show that badge on its listing. A center without it on its license may not legally provide that care.
The badge is the strongest signal there is, but it is not a schedule. Every provider in this directory, badge or not, says call to confirm for hours.
The state record. Confirm the license is active, look for Evening/Nighttime Care in the services, and read the recent inspections.
The call. Call mid-morning to reach the director, and ask:
Then call again after 10 p.m. on a night they say they are open.
The night visit. Go after 9 p.m. Count the adults and children, and see the sleeping room: cots or cribs, not mats; infants on their backs in empty cribs.
Red flags: no answer at night, no license number, or anyone who says your child can stay 24 hours.

Good to know
Not as a rule. A listing means the provider is licensed, nothing more about its hours. Every listing says call to confirm, and the Evening/Nighttime Care badge appears only where the state record lists that service.
From AZ Care Check, the state's public lookup. Each listing was active on the date printed on it.
Child care group homes operate in a residence, so we show only the city and ZIP and leave them off the map.
A provider that supports the finder. It is labeled wherever it appears and checked the same way as every other.
Use the claim or correct form on the listing page. We check every request against the state record before we change anything.
